WOW or MOM

Christmas morning my 30 year old handsome son gave me my Christmas card. I lit up and said, "Well, this blesses my soul. I didn't know you noticed, Son." He sauntered over with a question all over his face. Then he chuckled and grabbed me around the shoulders and said, "Yes, Mom...you are a WOW, but you'll notice as you open the envelope that I wrote it: M ... O... M and you are reading it WOW!!!" Ain't that just like life: upside down perspectives give such a different message than the one intended by the writer!

I choose to hold onto that envelope and display it WOW...it is actually one of my favorite "encouraging" tools for bum days. But I have begun to suspect communication issues may well be summed up in me holding that message upside down and getting a totally different message from the one my son innocently wrote on the envelope.

Your turn: got any ideas on communication perspectives?

Hi Kay,

You are the 4th person I know--just this week alone that has had computer problems--two of them twice!! I, myself was hit with 382 Trojan viruses when I clicked on a site that I have use often. Today, my internet was working--my son's was not. Hmmm...how strange!! We both live in the same place and use the same internet.

As far as personal communication issues--misunderstandings can come about so easily--a word misread, a word not said in the proper context, a facial expression. I've had all of these read as things that I didn't mean to say or convey.

I hope next week is a better one for everyone!!

WOW ! I love the way you read that on the card your son gave you! Sweet!

Lord, help me to see not just the "good" in a situation but help me to see "better" and even "Wow"!

God bless you Kay!

Thrive In Christ

Who I Am In Christ by Neil Anderson

For several months we will center on this book to pursue Thriving in our Christian journey.

Neil challenges us with: "Do you know who you are in God's eyes? We are no longer products of our past. We are primarily products of Christ's work on the cross. Who we are determines what we do.

You are not who you are in Christ because of the things you have done, you are in Christ because of what He has done. He died and rose again so that you and I could live in the FREEDOM of His love."

That's just the introduction. More to follow.
