Sinatra's greatest hit "My Way" seems to be a life theme for many today. What do you think of these lines? And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, Ill say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.
I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!
Those lines actually cause me to shudder. As an older woman I've been with several friends and family members in their last hours. Trust me; no one was singing a song like this at the end. Those that loved the Lord had peace no matter what....the "My Way" singers were weeping in regret and apologies for all their loved ones they had injured living "my way" no matter what.
Continuing from the last post on Ken Smith's It's About Time:
"Obedience is an attitude, a state of the spirit. We are either obedient or not obedient. It's not so much what we do as it is who we are. Yes, we all have little areas of disobedience...of doing what we know is not God's best for us. But if we have an attitude of obedience...a spirit-deep commitment to being the person God wants us to be...we can conquer those little pockets of disobedience." p.35
Smith has a great line...."Obedience isn't always easy, but it's always beneficial." p.33
Time, talent, treasure are my test of obedience. What about you? Do you live with an attitude of God's way? or your way? Could you sing a duet of "My Way" with Sinatra with your whole heart? Or is "I Surrender All" your heart song?

Sometimes the "My Way" seems to be quicker than the "I Surrender" way. It truly does show obedience when we choose to wait on God and act in accordance to what He wants for us. Sometimes easier said than done. :)
Wow Kay. Great words today. We live in a "My Way" world - but I want to live it God's way. Great thoughts today!
Awesome words! It is all about the atttitude of the heart. We could be doing all the "right" things but not being submissive. Obedience flows out of a love that we have for God. I want to not only be obedient but submissive.
Love in Christ,
Nicole
I think that most of us....especially myself....have problems wanting to "Do It My Way" even when we "think" we have Surrendered All. So very hard to take up our cross daily and follow Him!
