Welcome to Thrive Christians. "Now to Him (Jesus Christ) who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21. NKJV

Blogroll frosted or plain?
Recently a fellow blogger suggested I get a blogroll. "Is it edible?" I asked. I started salivating thinking of a sweet roll dripping with gooey icing. Or perhaps it would be like a hoagie roll. Somehow I knew I was way off base. So I 'fessed up and emailed him I wouldn't know a blogroll from a dill pickle.
Determined to master this new thing called blogging I dove into the web seeking info on "blogrolls." Sometimes it defys logic that computers actually save us time. It took me 2 hours to find the way to attach a blogroll onto my site. But if you scroll to the right you'll see Thrive Christians' official Blogroll slowly filling up with blogs I have "enrolled."
Adventurous thriving living always includes learning new things and getting out of the norm. So everyday this blog gives me a good stretch.

Thrive In Christ
Who I Am In Christ by Neil Anderson
For several months we will center on this book to pursue Thriving in our Christian journey.
Neil challenges us with: "Do you know who you are in God's eyes? We are no longer products of our past. We are primarily products of Christ's work on the cross. Who we are determines what we do.
You are not who you are in Christ because of the things you have done, you are in Christ because of what He has done. He died and rose again so that you and I could live in the FREEDOM of His love."
That's just the introduction. More to follow.

Blogrolls were ok a few years ago in much the same way people used to "trade links". I personally see no real value unless you are giving links to other sites you think are truly valuable for other people to check out like your business networking groups for example. Other than that I would focus more on creating compelling content that compels others to leave compelling and "real" comments. These are the things that will get the attention of your readers and build community.
Where were you, Patrick, on Saturday when I was searching for blogrolls? I trust your advice, but for today it can sit there and be. At least I know what it is now.
I will work on the content...I know that matters to me on blogs.

Actually on Sat. we were just getting over the funeral. The past few weeks have been draining for us and on Sat. the both of us slept in till 11am! That was about 12 hours of sleep! I hadn't done that since I was a teenager. Needless to say the rest is helping me thrive more this week and the weeks ahead. While the events of the past few weeks have been very sad I can't wait to share some things God is doing through all of this. Hope to see you at the meeting on Friday.
Don't take my blogroll comment to personal. It's ok to have one and thanks so much for adding my company to your blog roll. It's an honor to be there. I'm doing a lot of catching up this week and reading my Problogger book is on the list.
BTW, you don't have to have site with blogs in your blog roll. You can add any link you deem important for others to see.
